Cory Hill’s competition days go right back to nippers at Grange SLSC in South Australia. When Cory was 15, his father had the opportunity to take a lifestyle change and moved to the Gold Coast to coach at Northcliffe Surf Life Saving Club.
Cory initially trained as an Ironman and was able to qualify multiple times into the professional Nutri-Grain Ironman Series, securing a second place in the 2010 Coolangatta Gold.
His love and passion for ocean paddling eventually led him to focus purely on the surfski discipline.
Today Cory has become one of the best and most respected ocean paddlers of our time. He is a two time winner of the Maui Jim Molokai Challenge, a gruelling 53km surfski ocean paddling race held annually in Hawaii. It’s a test of endurance and perseverance that attracts the best contenders from all corners of the globe. Cory won the latest edition in 2018 and is the current Molokai Ocean Paddling World Record holder.
Cory is a true world class athlete. Competing for his country, he won the ICF Ocean Racing World Championships back to back in 2015 and 2017 and is now working towards his third consecutive title.
In 2018, Cory showed once again why he is considered to be the best ocean paddler. He won all major surfski competitions in Australia and scored podium positions in all of the races he had competed across the world.
Cory is a dedicated member of the Northcliffe Surf Life Saving Club and plays a role model in the community within which he lives and works. He is an active fundraiser and supports many charities including JDRF and the most recent Sunflowers for Jess.
Cory was the first athlete to be appointed to the prestigious Shaw and Partners Race Team and together with Michael Booth, Rachel Clarke and Mackenzie Hynard, they form one of the most successful teams of paddlers to compete in Australia and Worldwide.
